Walnut Bars

Ingredients

Crust

½ cup butter
1 cup sifted flour

Topping

½ cup dry coconut
1 ½ cups brown sugar sifted and packed
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 Tbs flour
¼ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 eggs, well beaten
1 ½ tsp vanilla

Instructions

Crust

Blend butter and flour well and pat evenly in a greased pan (9×13 inches). Bake at 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes.

Topping

Mix all ingredients well and spread on baked layer. Bake in 350 degree oven…about 25 minutes. Cool. Frost with Confectioner’s Sugar Frosting and sprinkle with ground nuts.

Notes

Confectioner’s Sugar Frosting

1 Tbs & 1 tsp butter
¼ cup milk
About 3 to 3 ¼ cups sifted confectioner’s sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Food coloring

Add butter to the milk. Add sugar gradually to make frosting right for spreading. Add extract and mix well. Add food coloring at desired.

Makes about 4 - 5 dozen bar cookies 1x
