Fudge Cookies

Fudge Cookies - Done on rack Feature

Another Cookies by Bess Top 10! Fudge Cookies are definitely in my Top 10 of all time! I find this funny because chocolate really isn’t my thing and if I’m buying fudge, I would probably buy pecan praline or caramel nut. I tend to leave the chocolate fudge for those that LOVE chocolate. Not with these Fudge Cookies though…I’m keeping them all for myself! ?

I’m rating this recipe 2-stars for all the steps involved. Once again, the recipe isn’t hard, but there are multiple steps with melting the chocolate chips and butter, then mixing in the sweetened condensed milk, flour, and nuts. Also, after chilling, the cookie dough which was actually the consistency of real fudge, was a little difficult to scoop for the cookies.

There aren’t too many ingredients in this recipe. But I did have to run to the grocery store for the sweetened condensed milk as it’s not something I generally keep in my pantry.  Although, after making and tasting these cookies, I think I’ll keep a can or two around just in case I get a craving for these cookies!

The recipe says to melt the butter and chocolate chips over hot water. I don’t have a double boiler, but I was able to find a glass/Pyrex type bowl I could use over a sauce pan. I filled the sauce pan with just enough water to touch the bottom of the glass bowl and heated the water on medium to low heat.

Next, I melted the chocolate chips and butter over the hot water. They melted and mixed together, but it was thick and a bit hard to stir.

Adding the sweetened condensed milk blended in nicely and make a smooth chocolate sauce.

Next, I added the flour which thickened the chocolate a bit. It was starting to look like fudge!

Finally, I added the nuts and mixed them in. The recipe doesn’t specific the type of nuts to use. I decided on walnuts because that’s what I think of when I think of chocolate fudge.

Once everything was all mixed together, I had a nice huge bowl full of fudge! I actually debated just slicing it up and eating just like it this. But instead, I covered the bowl with plastic wrap and stuck the bowl in the refrigerator to chill.

I ended up leaving the dough in the refrigerator overnight. I’m not sure this is what was intended as when I took the dough out the next day, it was very hard. I used a melon baller to form ball, but it was still hard to maneuver the dough.

Once I had the cookies on my greased cookie sheet, I baked them for about 15 minutes. They took a little longer than the 12 minutes suggested because the dough was so cold.

Using cold cookie dough was a little difficult to work with, but it didn’t affect how the cookies baked or their taste. OMG! Just look at these cookies!  They look awesome and taste even better! The recipe says it makes 5 dozen…I got 5 dozen exactly!

I really can’t get over how good these cookies taste. They look like fudge and taste like fudge! They are the perfect texture. Nice and firm on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. They almost melt in your mouth just like fudge but at the same time they are almost cakey like a chewy/squenchy brownie.  Again, OMG they are soooo good!

What could be better than a Fudge Cookie! Honestly, not much! For someone that doesn’t really like chocolate, I LOVE these Fudge Cookies so much I’m eating them all myself!

I’m telling you…make these cookies. You are going to love them!

XXOO,

Janet
